Reflections

We have been talking about St. Mary's Glacier quite a bit since we returned from our trip. Our initial thoughts when buying property there was that it would be a way to live in Colorado and still be close enough to Denver to commute. We would be close to skiing, and also a reasonable distance to the San Luis Valley which is where we ultimately want to wind up. Let's face it...we'll still have to work for a few more years.

However, in my opinion, it's just too remote to be able to do that. I don't think that I would want the stress of *having* to drive up and down that road every day to go to work. The winters are long, and snow is plentiful.

We'll still hang on to this, though. It will be interesting to see what happens with Eclipse. Not sure if anything much is going on there, since the message board on the site has been down for quite a while. If that gets up and running, this would be a great place to have a cabin to use on the weekends!

  1. Hello Cindy,
My wife Erin and I have lived at St. Mary's Glacier for 11 years now. We are the biggest supporters of Eclipse Snowpark up here.I can keep you informed about all issues with the sub-division. I am the president of the water & sanitation district, and we both are actively involved with the community as well as county issues.
We have recently purchased the parking area past the glacier trail, on the left and have made it a paid parking lot with porta-potties, animalproof trash can, and dispenser with dog waste bags.
Eclipse will also bring similar benefits. Anyway, we visit the Sand Dunes every year, and have looked at a few properties in the zapata falls sub-division. It is very similar to up here only the attraction is the dunes and not a glacier. If you would like any info on anything, please let us know!

We visit the sand dunes every year, and have looked at property in the Zapata Falls sub-division. It is very similar to up here, only instead of a glacier there is sand dunes. We love to spend a couple weeks a year out there.
